Falling Into Trust

Our willingness to hand over the driver´s seat of Life to the Universal Intelligence is key on the spiritual path. In Truth – The Divine has always been the driver – but when ego interferes and forces another direction – pain enters our life in various ways. The ”I know best doer” usually does not automatically fall away with an awakening – so we must use free will to jump off the cliff of the misleadingly secure ego mountain top.

For me it took many years after my initial identity shift - with several extremely hurtful events that finally completely broke the trust for my ego. Not until I was financially backed into a corner did it finally become crystal clear - that the driving force behind the worst decisions in my life - had come from “the little fearful know it all self.” That said – I continue to be vigilant – as ego does not easily give up centerstage and comes back to test us regularly.

Unfortunately gentle learning is rare - because we are raised in a culture which not only glorifies being in charge of our lives – but also interprets painful events as negative and to be avoided by trying even harder to be in control – and so the downwards spiral goes.

However - the day we start using pain as seeds for healing and “unwanted” events as a map for ego dissolution – life enters a lovely flow. The challenge is to 1:Become aware that our ego is the driver 2:Develop contempt for this ego and 3:Shift our trust to the Unknown.

The reason developing contempt for ego is appropriate – is that it does not have our best interest in mind. Or we could say that ego DOES have our best interest in mind through the challenges it attracts. These hardships are customized to help us release our individual karmic load. So once we develop passion for discerning our lessons through Life`s difficulties – Freedom increases with each transcended pain.

Learning to distinguish between personal will and God´s Will is not easy – because ego likes to dress up as the Divine. So we must be dedicated to relentless detective work in order to succeed in handing over life decisions to Source Intelligence – and use our free will – to respond to difficulties – in favor of emotional healing and ego dissolution. Then we will experience the positive results of sitting in the passenger seat while refraining from back seat driving.

When you are in the transitional phase and feel uncertain as to which voice is the Divine I recommend 1:Do not be patient! If something is not working out the way you want it to – change method or direction immediately. Or 2: Be patient.. and let some time go by before ”you” make a choice.

Our motivation and ability to do this work and often alone – increases with the result of peaceful joy invading each cell of our physical body. When this Love has melted pride into an open vulnerable and completely naked dance with Life – courage is not even necessary to jump of the ego cliff and fall into Trust. Blind faith means letting go of attachment to outcome - until the Unknown catches us – and it becomes our own experience – that this Sacred Force - is the only reliable creator of a world arising from LOVE.
